A Chipinge man has been arrested after he allegedly pocketed money meant to buy goats and then stole nine of the animals, according to police reports.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, was reportedly given cash to purchase livestock but instead kept the money and took the goats. The incident came to light when the owner discovered the theft and alerted authorities.
Police in Chipinge are investigating the case, which highlights ongoing concerns about fraud in livestock transactions across Zimbabwe. Farmers are urged to verify the credentials of intermediaries and use formal contracts when buying or selling animals.
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
