The High Court has ordered the seizure of movable property belonging to Nkululeko Rusununguko TV (NRTV) after the military-linked broadcaster failed to settle salary arrears owed to 70 employees. The auction is expected to take place on Wednesday, with vehicles, office refrigerators, printers and television sets among the items listed for sale.
Court documents show that an arbitrator at the Labour Court had earlier directed NRTV to pay US$278,479.88 to the affected workers. The broadcaster, which operates under Nkululeko Rusununguko Holdings — a company in which the Zimbabwe National Army holds significant interests — did not comply, prompting employees to seek relief from the High Court.
What is going under the hammer
According to the auction notice, motor vehicles with a combined value of US$76,000 have been put up for sale alongside office equipment. KM Auctions (Pvt) Ltd has been tasked with the disposal of the property to recover the outstanding wages.
The move is the latest chapter in ongoing labour disputes at the broadcaster, which has faced accusations of financial mismanagement and inflated content costs. Many workers have already left the company but continue to pursue payment of their dues.
The auction is expected to draw interest from members of the public and second-hand goods dealers as the court-enforced sale moves forward.
